Africa's data centers, by country

Africa's data center footprint is growing but remains highly concentrated in a small number of countries.

Measurement context

31 African countries in our probe coverage

AfricaLatency attempts live measurements across 31 countries. Major digital infrastructure and interconnection hubs include Johannesburg and Cape Town, Lagos, Nairobi, Cairo, Casablanca and Accra. These hubs provide useful market context, but a nearby data centre does not by itself prove a fast route or a good user experience.

The country list describes where probes are requested, not a guarantee that every location has an available live probe on every scan. The data-centre figures below are third-party market references, separate from AfricaLatency's own live measurements.

Continent-wide reference

Approximately 249–282 facilities

Data Centre Map tracked approximately 249–282 facilities across Africa as of early-to-mid 2026, with the number rising over the course of the year as new capacity comes online. Note: figures from different trackers vary — the IMF's 2026 Sub-Saharan Africa report counts roughly 160 facilities, but that figure excludes North Africa.
